Closure of Waterford board game plant with 234 jobs lost

Belgian-headquartered Cartamundi says decision taken after post-Covid decline in demand for board games and inflationary pressures

Cartamundi, the board game and playing card manufacturer, announced on Wednesday that its operation in Waterford city is to close with more than 200 jobs to be cut over the coming months.

The company currently employs 234 people, but said a post-Covid decline in demand for board games as well as inflationary pressures led to today’s decision.
