Nearly one third of Ireland's electricity last month was provided by wind energy.

Figures from Wind Energy Ireland suggested wind power generation for April was the second highest on record for the month.

Irish wind farms generated 1,076GWh (gigawatt-hours) of power in April 2024 - 32 per cent of the total. This was slightly less than the previous record of 1,112GWh in April last year.
