Business owner resigns as Labour councillor after WRC awards former employee €11,000

A Dun Laoghaire business owner has resigned her position as a Labour Party councillor after the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) awarded one of her former employees more than €11,000 for breaches in her employment rights.

Juliet O’Connell, the party’s small business spokesperson and Dáil hopeful, resigned after the party confirmed she would not be its candidate in the forthcoming local elections.
