Andrews confirms he will quit as Goal chief

Former FF minister says US probe into operations has been 'extremely uncomfortable'

Goal chief Barry Andrews has helped expand its reach

Barry Andrews has confirmed that he is to step down as chief executive of aid agency Goal.

The organisation is currently the subject of an investigation being carried out in the US into supply chain irregularities in its Syrian operation.

In a statement this morning, the former Fianna Fáil minister said he told the agency’s board in August that he intended to step down as soon as a suitable replacement could be identified.
