Amazon questions government moves on huge data centres

Amazon has around 2,000 employees in Ireland and a number of data centres in Dublin, with more planned, including a 223,000 square foot data centre in Mulhuddart

Amazon has warned the government that its proposals to fast-track planning applications for data centres may not go far enough, according to newly-obtained documents.

The online retail giant told Taoiseach Leo Varadkar late last year of its concerns over the government’s plans to designate data centres as strategic infrastructure in order to accelerate the planning process and questioned if these measures would be sufficient.
