In our legal system, the Supreme Court attracts all of the glamour and the publicity. Its decisions in big constitutional or commercial law cases frequently make front-page news.
The District Court is sometimes seen as the poor relation, as it ploughs through long lists of routine motoring, littering and public order offences. Few law students lie in their beds at night dreaming that one day they will be appointed a District Court judge.
