AIB has apologised for issuing “incorrect” correspondence to some customers telling them that their mortgage repayments would rise by more than they had expected.

The lender confirmed on Friday that some of its customers had received letters notifying them of an “incorrect monthly payment change scheduled to take effect in October”.
