A conference at Croke Park today called for abasic minimum income for everyone in the state regardless their work status.

The independent think-tank Social Justice Ireland has organised a Social Policy Conference which today heard that the payment could be the solution to joblessness and welfare cycle in Ireland.

Chief executive Dr Sean Healy believesthe concept could reduce bureaucracy and increase respect for carers.
