What Ireland needs to do to win foreign investment under new tax regime
Eversheds Ireland boss says that housing and education will be as important as tax in the new system to attract multinationals
Alan Connell is an optimist at heart but there are a number of things that keep him awake at night.
In particular, the managing partner of the Irish arm of Eversheds Sutherland, the international law firm, worries about the “substance” of the Irish economy.
“The OECD’s global tax reforms have created a new world … multinational companies are going to be aligning their profits with countries that have substance. And Ireland really needs to be able to play at that level. We need to have substance if we’re going to win future foreign investment,” Connell told the Business Post.
