According to its website, Everton is “the people’s club”, and is “recognised worldwide for the warm, passionate and unbreakable bond it holds with its local community”, a claim made manifest by the 40 social programmes it delivers around Liverpool.

It’s interesting such a noble enterprise is set to saddle up with 777 Partners, as the Toffees announced last month that its owner Farhad Moshiri agreed to sell his 94.1 per cent stake in the club ...
