Making it Work

Irish National Opera gives voice to artistry via digital innovation

The opera theatre company was forced to adopt a digital-first strategy during Covid, but increasingly finds it a great way to reach a larger community

Sarah Halpin, digital producer at Irish National Opera: “We use digital tools to reach audiences who either can’t come in person or may not be aware of us.”

Irish National Opera (INO) plans to increase its use of digital technology to provide more opportunities for the public to embrace the art form.

Having initially been forced to adopt a digital-first strategy as a result of the pandemic, the company, which is backed by the Arts Council, is examining an increasingly broad variety of ways to use digital channels to introduce more people to opera.
