Dublin Riots: Firms plead for a safe, clean city this Christmas
A week on from a night of chaos, businesses across the capital have told politicians they must finally make serious efforts to improve public order
Richard Guiney spent a lot more time than usual on social media last week – including regular visits to its darker corners, the crevices he normally tries to avoid.
As chief executive of DublinTown, the business promotion group, Guiney said he felt a responsibility to keep abreast of the online activity of the activists and agitators who sparked the O’Connell street riots.
“I’m reading posts from people who I wouldn’t have read posts from before,” Guiney told the Business Post. “Suffice to say I wouldn’t share the sentiments that I’m reading.”
