The EU has been gentle with Boris Johnson after he finally put some proposals down on paper this week - but that politesse should not be confused with acceptance
The proposals came late in the day. They broke many of the European Union’s long-held red lines in the Brexit negotiations. But at least there was something down on paper from the administration of British prime minister Boris Johnson. After weeks of phony war, this was a relief in itself.
