Strong cast delivers rousing sing-a-long
Theatre: Ireland Rises Written and directed by Billy Kilkenny. Tivoli Theatre. Runs until August 31. Rating: ***. Reviewed by Andrew Lynch
Ireland Rises is a show that gives new meaning to the term ‘lock-in’. On Easter Monday 1916, rebellion breaks out and a group of young Dubliners take refuge in a Liffey Street pub. With a trad band conveniently located by the fireside, they devote the next six days to a rousing session of Irish songs and dancing punctuated by news updates from outside.
