Afraid to break out the blue? Or splash out with pink? Interiors expert Roisin Lafferty of KLD has made it a personal mission to reset Irish thinking around home colour. Here, she advises on how best to use strong shades in your home: what works, what doesn’t, and why

“Paint is the single most transformative tool in interiors: it's accessible, inexpensive and easy to use. Be brave and break rules: just because the space is small it doesn’t mean that you need light, bright walls. I personally love dark colours. However, before committing to a single colour, paint some large samples on a few walls within the room and consider how it looks throughout the day and at night, as artificial light can have a big impact.”
