The story behind the creation of Betty Smith’s award-winning A Taste of Irish Spirit marmalade deserves its own moment in the sun, if not a TV mini-series. Smith, 82, moved from her home of Yorkshire in November 1995 having retired from her job with the Home Office forensic science lab.
