The British author has published 20 novels under her own name, sold millions of books worldwide and become something of an institution as the creator of so-called ‘Aga Saga’ novels, traditional works such as A Village Affair and The Rector’s Wife that deal in a clear-eyed and smart manner with domestic events that matter in people’s lives.
