Sometimes the best comfort food is a TV show you know backwards and forwards. Enter The West Wing, which will ease your pre-Christmas stress

TV writer Bess Kalb recently posed the question on Twitter: “What is the TV show that got you through an unbelievably sad time?” I knew my answer immediately. It’s The West Wing. I have watched all seven seasons, 22 episodes per season, at least five times. I watched it when my dad was dying, I watched it after a heinous break-up, I took a week off college in my 20s when I thought I might implode with stress and instead closed the curtains and called up President Bartlet and co for company and comfort.
