TV PICKS OF THE WEEK

Doctor Who, Sunday, 7.30pm, BBC One

I was still in school when, in 1963, the world was introduced to Doctor Who, a being who flew about in time and space in an old-style police telephone box. You couldn’t make it up, but somebody did. The durable Doctor has had 13 incarnations. Tonight’s feature-length episode is Jodie Whittaker’s last hurrah in the role, taking on timeless enemies such as the Daleks, the Cybermen and the Master in a story that spools from events on a distant planet to the court of the Russian Tsar in 1916.
