In a new three-part series for RTÉ, Liz Bonnin explores the geological beginnings of Ireland, while Netflix’s latest thriller series is a quirky affair set in East Germany
The Island, Sunday, 6.30pm, RTÉ One
Liz Bonnin returns to RTÉ in this three-episode series subtitled 1.8 Billion Years in the Making. Bonnin, who got her start in Irish television with shows such as Off the Rails, has been involved in science and nature programmes for the BBC and RTÉ over the years. Here, she explores Ireland’s geological history beginning with our island’s origins, formed from two entirely separate and vanished continents which billions of years ago were south of the equator. EK
