Bono was one of many celebrities who angrily condemned the Irish Northern Aid Committee (popularly known as Noraid) for its role in Northern Ireland’s Troubles. On early U2 tours of the United States, he urged Irish-Americans not to provide any financial aid for “the revolution” back home.
