“You start with the shoes,” says Niamh Algar. The Bafta-nominated Irish actor and lead of ITV’s upcoming medical thriller Malpractice is speaking about her approach to character.

“Genuinely. You look at what shoes they’re going to be wearing. Because someone’s shoes inform so much of them. Everyone wears runners now, because there’s such a fast pace. Especially in London. Literally, it’s got a vibration. Everyone is running around at an incredible pace,” she says.
