Varadkar backed ombudsman penalty points probe months ago

Transport minister Leo Varadkar has said that he called for the penalty points controversy to be investigated by the Garda Ombudsman six months ago.

His position is in stark contrast to Justice Minister Alan Shatter, who referred the issue to the Garda Ombudsman only last week.
