Access to the information about how we are governed isn't just a rights issue it's an economic one too, writes Jane Ruffino.

Two weeks ago, I was in London at Strata, a conference dedicated to the skills and strategies needed for the landscape and ''digital nervous system'' of big data. Representatives of the British Cabinet Office's government digital services team talked about creating truly user-centred services, and how they're trying to foster a real commitment to improving transparency, including getting buy-in from the top to make information useful to the citizens who paid for it.
