Students rely on parental financial support

Seventy per cent of school leavers rely on their parents to support further education while students without parental support struggle to fund their studies, new research has shown.

An Economic and Social Research Institute (ERSI) survey shows a disparity in financial satisfaction levels as higher education students in receipt of some form of state support, including maintenance grants, were more likely to consider financial difficulties a major problem than other students.
