New mortgage providers would boost loans

A new mortgage provider could emerge from one of the international firms which are purchasing portfolios of residential loans.

Such a new player would either provide much needed competition in Ireland's mortgage market or provide more liquidity to the mortgage market through existing banks.

This is the view of Cormac O'Rourke of Goodbody stockbrokers.
