Netflix mounts assault on continental Europe
Netflix's success will be dependent on its ability to provide new and compelling content, writes Siobhán Brett.
As Netflix pushed into six new European countries on successive days last week, chief executive Reed Hastings said local rivals were “concerned” that the arrival of Netflix would push up the cost of content.
“That’s good for producers, artists and talent,” Hastings said. “It’s not as good for the distributors.”
