Motive for buy-in not yet clear

Billionaire businessman Denis O'Brien looks to have made a one-way bet by spending between €54 million and €56 million on a 3.01 per cent stake in Independent News & Media (IN&M).

O'Brien has yet to reveal the motives behind the purchase or what his long-term intentions are. It is interesting to compare this with when JP McManus and John Magnier began investing in Manchester United a few years ago.
