The head of the Motor Insurers Bureau of Ireland (MIBI) has warned about the rising number of deliberate "accidents", in which fraudsters claim damages for personal injuries from untraceable drivers.

John Casey, chief executive of the Motor Insurers' Bureau of Ireland, said several claims suggested deliberate staging of "accidents" for the purpose of taking a personal injuries action.
