Line-of-sight and broadband

In her article about broadband (SBP 20/2/05), Louise McBride states: “To access wireless broadband, you must live within line of sight of a wireless base station.”

While this is generally the case, it does not apply to the Ripwave platform used by Irish Broadband, or to platforms based on WiMAX solutions. Railway operators, for example, are using WiMAX to provide passengers with broadband access.
