Gardai told to target company car drivers

Gardai­ have been told to sort out the long-running problem of around half of all speeding company car drivers escaping penalty points.

Company officials are failing to tell gardai­ who was driving their lorry or car, which cost the state a total of €1 million in 2011 and 2012.

The issue was highlighted by the state spending watchdog as far back as 11 years ago.
