Attorney General Máire Whelan had banned Alan Shatter from calling her before 7am. She had tired of the justice minister ringing her up about his latest legislative bills, many of which he had drawn up himself.
But last Wednesday, she answered the phone when Taoiseach Enda Kenny rang at 6am.
