Food premises closures rise 77% over breaches

“Unsafe food safety practices or non-compliance with food legislation is not tolerated by inspection officers. There is absolutely no excuse for negligent practices.“

The number of premises ordered to close for breaches of food safety regulations has risen by 77 per cent since last year.

Seven closure orders and one prohibition order were served on food businesses last month for breaches of food safety legislation, according to the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI)
