Dáil still a failure of accountability

Politicians regularly complain about the low public esteem in which they are held. But is it really any wonder?

The independent TD, builder and developer Mick Wallace has been revealed to have appropriated, for his own purposes, money due to the state by withholding Vat receipts. Declaring that he has never been a quitter, he remains a member of the Dáil. Recently, he has seen fit to call for an increase in taxes.
