Detailed figures for the May new-car market show that this year's growth rate is remaining steady. Last month, 17,601 new cars were sold, against 15,414 for May last year – an increase of 14.2 per cent.

Year to date figures at the end of May show 122,829 new cars, an increase of 13.5 per cent on last year's figure of 108,229 vehicles.
