Burton hits the ground running as leader

She isn’t hanging around. New Tánaiste and Labour leader Joan Burton has already sent a policy paper to the Taoiseach setting out her priorities in the discussions the two will begin tomorrow.

She will spend this weekend finalising her cabinet and junior ministerial choices. And the two leaders of the government parties will seek to relaunch their administration this week in a do-or-die bid to dispel the narrative of political decline that has ...
