Big screen bonanza

Autumn and winter traditionally see the best films of year - and 2012 is no exception, writes John Maguire.

There are plenty of decent films planned for the latter half of 2012, including Total Recall, Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part II and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey 3D.

For cineastes, the next five months promise a mouth-watering selection of new films from some of the world's greatest directors, including Michael Haneke, Paul Thomas Anderson, Ang Lee, Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson.
