ASAI upholds complaints against Lidl ads

In its July report, the ASAI upheld 16 of 21 complaints about advertisements including UPC, Eircom, Paddy Power, McCabe’s Pharmacy and The Grain Store, Ballymaloe House.

The Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland (ASAI) has upheld two complaints about ads on the website of German discounter Lidl.

The first ad, for “ladies’ toning shoes”, said the sole created imbalance “causing the leg muscles to work harder”. One person disputed whether the shoes could aid muscle toning.

Lidl said it never intended to mislead customers, and that the shoes “were to be used whilst exercising to achieve results”.
