Some Irish performers are leaving behind the constraints of the stage and taking to the air as part of the aerial theatre movement, writes Joanne Hayden.
He scales the rope. The music plays from the side of the stage and he begins for real, making loops and knots with his feet so that he is swooping, whirling, dropping through the air, twisting the rope around himself, then dangling from it by one hand.
