Meet the Irish brand that made its Paris Fashion Week debut

Dublin-based designer Noema Damaris debuted her namesake collection at La Galerie Bourbon as part of the Flying Solo fashion collective

Damaris’ new season collection was presented alongside over 50 international designers during Flying Solo’s five-day showcase initiative

Luxury womenswear designer Noema Damaris made her Paris Fashion Week debut at La Galerie Bourbon last week as part of the Flying Solo fashion collective.

Damaris, whose namesake label ‘Noema’, focuses on considered designs made from natural and biodegradable native fabrications, presented her autumn-winter 2023 collection in the Parisian gallery alongside over 50 international designers during Flying Solo’s five-day showcase initiative.

Her new season collection is a nine-piece edit featuring muted grey and black velvet suit separates, double-breasted tie wrap coats, and function-first dresses. Handcrafted from Wexford linen, Donegal wool, organic velvet and bamboo silk, Damaris’ principles are to tread lightly on the planet while offering a collection of pared-back, hard-working pieces.

The Dublin-based Mallorcan designer founded her brand in late 2021 after she took a professional pivot from aerospace engineering. Every piece is handmade and after Damaris conceptualises the collection, a production business based in Rathfarnham and comprising seamstresses and pattern makers create each piece by hand. Shortly after launching, her designs were picked up by cult UK retailer Wolf & Badger.

Damaris previously told Irish Tatler that a childhood spent in Palma, Mallorca, inspired her career change back to a simple living, stripped back lifestyle: “When I was growing up in Palma, sustainability wasn't even a question. It wasn’t something we were doing on purpose, it was our lifestyle. I grew up seeing women wearing straw hats and bags made by hand and wearing linens from spring to the end of autumn.”

Its curated selection showcases designs from established and emerging luxury designers, and it prioritises collaboration, community, and innovation among its featured brands. Damaris collection was presented alongside a roster of luxury womenswear, menswear, couture, and accessory labels.
