Unrealistic, vague, and overcomplicated, these stylish pinky-swears, according to studies, are statistically bound to fail – 80 per cent, in fact. Yet, we persist, making pointless promises that reinforce our fears and stifle our appetite for change. In short, we’re fooling ourselves.
