First Look: the best room at The Westbury Hotel has had a makeover, and it’s got a private cocktail bar

The P.V. Doyle Suite, renamed for the legendary hotelier

It’s the sixth floor you want, and two right turns. What was the Presidential Suite at the Westbury Hotel has been refurbished and renamed the P.V. Doyle Suite in honour of the hotel’s founder, and the result is something special. There’s the jewel box cocktail bar with gold and cut mirror fronting, with a private bartender on request. Design throughout this 130 square metre suite is elegant, calming and strangely homely, while the art makes for a coup de foudre. On entering, admire Sol Y Sombra, a Louis LeBrocquy tapestry (which, the hotel tells Irish Tatler, was mistakenly used as a floormat at one point…), before moving on to artworks by Nano Reid, Patrick Scott, Tim Goulding, Michael Kane, and the magical Anne Madden.
