The number of children under six being taken to GPs has risen by more than a third at an out-of hours service representing 200 GPs in the northeast.

North East Doctor On Call, which is the out-of-hours service covering Louth, Dundalk, Meath, Cavan and Monaghan, said it had seen 5,964 under-sixes between July and November this year compared with 4,391 during the same period in 2014. That represents a 36 per cent increase.
