New consultants to earn €42k less than colleagues

Consultants employed before 2012 will earn up to €200k in new deal that excludes newer recruits; Settlement reached last week will add €62m to the consultants’ pay bill annually

New entrant consultants are set to earn €42,000 less than their colleagues following a new agreement brokered on Friday. As part of the settlement, about 2,700 consultants will receive corrected remuneration and retrospective pay for up to ten years.

Hundreds of consultants recruited since 2012 were excluded from the deal, meaning the two-tier pay scale divide will widen.
