Can Ireland have a digital and decarbonised economy?

If ‘green technology’ delivers on its promise then all things are possible

Last July, the government made explicit its twin transition policy of digitalising and decarbonising Ireland’s economy and society. What the Climate Action Plan makes clear is that the onus is on businesses to resolve two potentially contradictory strategies. By setting sectoral emission targets to achieve a 51 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, and net-zero emissions by 2050, the ball has been hit squarely into the court of Irish-based companies.
