Used vehicle washwater: a solution to recycle, and reuse

The BMS Recyclone is a unique pre-fabricated system that is designed to fully recycle used water from vehicle wash systems

A Recyclone system installed in the Port of Cork

With the increasing focus on both the availability of potable water and water quality in Ireland and abroad, many regulating authorities are focusing on the amount of water that vehicle washing facilities are using and where exactly the dirty vehicle washwater is going?

Most commonly, the used water will get some treatment through a silt trap or interceptor before discharging into a foul water or even surface water sewer. The discharges from washes also have the potential to cause a lot of pollution or to increase the load on the local municipal sewage treatment plant. That it is why many licensing authorities are now insisting that that the used vehicle washwater is treated on site, preferably reused, or in areas/countries with low seasonal rainfall, shutting down washes altogether during dry periods.

Having been approached by a number of customers, BMS has emerged with an innovative solution that solves all these problems, saves money in water charges and protects the environment. The BMS Recyclone is a unique “all in one” pre-fabricated package car/truck/vehicle/container wash water-recycling system that is designed to recycle 100% of recovered wash water for continuous re-use. A Recyclone will reduce water use by up to 90% and can completely eliminate pollution as the Recyclone has no dirty water discharge. As a result, a Recyclone will provide substantial financial and environmental benefits with same-day commissioning.

The BMS Recyclone is uniquely compatible with all types of washing systems and requires a fraction of the civil works required for more traditional systems, which require extensive underground tankage and a control room. This means that a Recyclone is ideal for installation on an existing site, as well as new sites.

Locations to benefit from the Recyclone include Dublin and Cork ports, some of Ireland’s largest car dealers, Sysco Foods and AES Recycling.

BMS is committed to working with every client to select a Recyclone solution that will suit their needs. BMS also offers great value maintenance contract solutions throughout Ireland.
