Ryanair has a tried and trusted approach to dealing with crisis: it announces a seat sale.
Last Wednesday morning, as the newspapers were full of the likely impact of the one-day strike called by Irish pilots for next Thursday, Ryanair customers got an email, under the banner “This is not fake news”. It offered them flights in September to November to destinations such as Paris and Copenhagen for as little as €19.99.
