Industry 4.0 is in danger of becoming a buzzword, but the technology involved is transforming manufacturing

Dr Andrew Lynch, chief innovation officer at Irish Manufacturing Research, is enthused about the ongoing transformation of manufacturing through industry 4.0 – though he is cooling somewhat on term itself, due to overuse.

“It is certainly something that is coming in a big way, but one of the concerns people have is that ‘industry 4.0’ has become a marketing term, almost like ‘innovation’, it means all things to all people,” he said.
