With the crisis in Greece and the market stuttering in China, investors are getting very nervous

Volatility is back. It’s not quite 2008 again, but according to The Chicago Board Options Exchange Volatility Index – the world’s go-to barometer of just how scared financial markets are – investors are definitely worried.

The VIX, as it’s known, last week rose by five points to 18.85, the highest level it has registered since February.

Its corresponding index in Europe, called the VStoxx, is at its highest point since 2012.
