A relaunch of Investment Limited Partnerships (ILPs) in 2020 has begun to bear fruit as Ireland continues to compete with Luxembourg to be the base for European fund management.

The initial ILP regime was introduced in 1994, but following significant growth in global private markets amendments were made to the regulation in December 2020, which took effect in February 2021. These reforms brought legislation in line with structures in other key fund jurisdictions, mainly Luxembourg.
